around town: we heart the chicago symphony orchestra

opening night at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is an event not to be missed. we were lucky enough to be able to attend the september 21st festivities, which included, in addition to the remarkable performance, a pre-concert reception as well as a fabulous after-concert soiree held at the Palmer House Hilton.

the performance, of course, was spectacular. world-renowned conductor Riccardo Muti led the orchestra in a celebration of Giuseppe Verdi‘s 200th birthday. our favorite part of the moving performance was the breathtaking vocals of mezzosoprano Daniela Barcellona.

the after-party reception at the Palmer House was an absolutely fabulous fete, with a delicious dinner, flowing champagne, and an awesome performance by Bill Pollack‘s band that had practically everyone on the dance floor, rocking out to our favorite tunes- everything from Earth, Wind, and Fire to Michael Jackson, Black Eyed Peas, and everything in between.

ladies, we all know that half the fun of an evening out on the town is decking out in your most fabulous outfit. we donned our favorite Jenny Yoo cocktail dresses (she wore the Olivia high-low halter gown and I wore the Aidan maxi-length convertible sweetheart gown), and our favorite jewels from Erin Gallagher Jewelry (she wore the classically chic Isabella bracelet and I wore the sparkling swarovski Etta bib necklace). it was an absolutely fabulous night!!!!
